Purpose
To provide a central hub of valuable resources for the livestock industry.
Mission
Manage a user friendly interactive network to promote responsible breeding practices, transparent exchanges, and helpful information to the miniature cattle industry.
History
The International Miniature Cattle Breeders Registry or IMCBR has a rich and storied history in the cattle industry. Founder Professor Emeritus Richard Gradwohl (1936-2011) was passionate about the miniature cattle industry and worked for many decades to develop over 18 trademarked breeds worldwide. His hard work and dedication has resulted in farms worldwide that carry genetics from his cattle lines. Professor Gradwohl and his wife, Arlene, did more than raise children who share their love of miniature cattle, they raised an entire generation that has fallen in love with mini cows.
IMCBR was founded by the Gradwohl family in 1989. They worked diligently to maintain the registry, tracking thousands and thousands of cows across nearly 30 different breeds. The cattle in the registry can be found across the globe.
Future
Ben & Melanie Yoder purchased the registry in 2022. They reside in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, in the shadows of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Their 7 children join them in daily chores on the farm and in serving you & other friends of IMCBR.
They own Cyrus Ridge Farm, a program focused on the production of quality micro and miniature Scottish Highland Cattle. You can see more about their farm at CyrusRidge.com.
The vision for IMCBR includes:
– A digital database, accessible for customers to research cattle pedigrees. This venture involves many hours of taking the thousands of paper records and inputting the information into the new database. Records are being uploaded daily, however we are happy to work with your specific pedigree if you need an extended pedigree listed immediately.
– IMCBR Market, an equal opportunity gathering place for lovers of all animals. We welcome animals of all varieties. As always, IMCBR is dedicated to hosting an honest and transparent market. Please don’t hesitate to give us feedback on how we can improve your buying or selling experience.
– Breeder Profiles, a collection of reputable breeders in the US. The IMCBR URL (minicattle.com) is one of the oldest and highest ranked Google sites for miniature cattle searches. This drives hundreds of visitors to the site daily. Together we can work to phase out the tools scammers use to prey on vulnerable purchasers.
We are just simple farmers working hard to help other farmers succeed. Have questions, comments, accolades, concerns, gripes, complaints? We’d love to hear you out. Shoot us an email or give us a call at 540-280-0379.
