About

Welcome to the Whitehall Flyway Miniature Cattle farm. We strive for healthy & sturdy stock. Our focus is on the micro-miniature size (0000) - where size matters!  We pride our program on "no genetic defects, no dwarfism gene" (non chondro breeding stock) in our herd. Our breeding stock has been DNA tested by those wonderful ethical breeders that we purchase from. Our Western Heritage (meaning cross of Zebu, Longhorn, Whitepark, Corriente, Dexter for example) stock that was developed over years by one of those breeding programs in Iowa. We then added foundation pure Zebu mommas to make our overall micro mini range - <36" (at full maturity) being our goal. Our herd bull, Vendetta aka Vinnie, was from a 29" Red Zebu bull named Rascal - and was part of that original program with Western Heritage mommas. We love the look and stature of those cattle, so in our own program we added FP Zebu mommas to keep the size and appearance of the Western Heritage breeds. And try to have lots of color with a mix of Western Heritage and Zebu to make up our breed lines too.  You may ask, "why micro miniature cattle" well that answer is = #1 overall small cattle are easier on the land, equipment and facilities. Those of us who once had large cattle remember the constant work on fencing, barn repairs, and hours mending broken equipment. The small animals just don't have the bulk to be as harsh; most are under 250-300 lbs and less. Pastures seem to stay greener longer because these miniature cattle weigh less and have an overall smaller footprint.  #2 As well some (if not most) counties offer agricultural exemptions by having 2 or more head of cattle, so why not keep them small - so you may qualify to lower your tax debt by adding a tiny cow to your farm; that is a great added benefit. I'd love to help you find your next pet, therapy animal, or pasture friend, and I love to share the knowledge about this breed - so I look forward to meeting you all.
