The first Kentshire® cattle have been born in the country of South Africa. Kentshires® are a new breed of miniature cattle developed by Professor Richard Gradwohl at the Miniature Cattle Breeding Research Facility in Covington, Washington USA. This is the only facility of its kind in the world. The Kentshire® was named after the City of Kent, Washington. The City of Kent has adopted the Kentshire® as its official breed of miniature cattle. There have been inquires from many other countries wanting to start herds of Kentshires®. Professor Gradwohl originally donated 400 straws of bull semen to South Africa for development of the Kentshire® breed. The breed is very feed efficient and well suited for the small farms of the world. Ideal for countries with sparse vegetation and limited water resources.Concentrations of two Kentshires® per acre results in a high land use production ratio. A multipurpose docile bovine Kentshires® are good for both milk and beef and of equal importance they make great pets.
